"Christine is an extraordinary jazz vocalist, with great pitch,
time & phrasing, advanced improvisational skills, and most     importantly, has her own honest and unique voice.

She is the kind of singer whom can truly touch listeners, because
it is evident that she believes in every note and lyric that she sings."

New CD to be released in August!

4 years in the making! NEW CD release August 2018! The John Morell Songbook

Looking forward to the first release of the John Morrell Songbook which will be released in August, 2018!

In an era when there are few standards being added to the Great American Songbook, the release of a full CD of new, fresh and timeless songs is a major event. “I’m inspired by the standards,” says songwriter John Morell. “I think of my objective as ‘breaking old ground.’”

John was fortunate to team up with Christine Tavares-Mocha to perform these songs. She has an appealing voice, the ability to express a wide range of emotions, and a very clear sound that makes it very easy to understand the lyrics.

John is an exceptional storyteller,” enthuses Christine. “Each of his songs paints its own picture. I’m honored to help be the narrator and to put a voice to these stories.”

The 11 songs cover a wide range of love. “Thought I’d Never Fall Again,” which could pass as a forgotten standard from the 1960s, discusses unexpected love. “Serious Thing” deals with assertive love (knowing what one wants) and “A Touch Of Love” has Christine’s voice sounding particularly fetching as she plans a getaway for love. “I Could Swear I’m In Love” is joyous while, on “Don’t Talk To Me About Love,” the narrator wants to avoid the whole subject. “Sunshine Way” has the singer in love with the prospect of moving to Los Angeles.

“Dancing Ground” finds the vocalist, after the breakup of an affair, leaving it open to possibly resume the relationship in the future. “Bad Boy Blues” is about always being attracted to the wrong guy. The singer is surprised by love in “Then Came You,” expresses happiness with her current relationship in “Good To Be Yours” and, on the closing “Strange And Fateful Day,” is a bit bewildered at being unexpectedly in love.

Relevant, authentic lyrics. Strong melodies. Top-notch players. Superior vocals.
